The Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing and managing the operations of Octorara Area Little League. Our primary role is to ensure that the league provides a safe, fun, and educational environment for children to learn and enjoy the game of baseball. Our current board members are:

League Governance: We sets the overall direction and policies for the league. We establish and enforce league rules and regulations, including player eligibility, age divisions, and game schedules.
Financial Management: We are responsible for the league's finances. This includes creating and managing a budget, setting registration fees, and overseeing fundraising efforts. We must ensure that the league remains financially viable and can cover our expenses.
Facility Management: We are responsible for maintaining and improving our fields and concessions, ensuring they are safe and in good condition for games and practices.
Volunteer Coordination: We are 100% run by volunteers and recruit and coordinate volunteers for various roles, including coaches, umpires, field maintenance, and concession workers.
Registration and Player Placement: We manage player registration and the placement of players onto teams and ensure that teams are balanced and that all eligible children have the opportunity to participate.
Safety and Risk Management: The safety of players and participants is a top priority. We develop and enforce safety policies and procedures, conduct safety inspections, and ensure that coaches and volunteers are trained in safety protocols.
League Promotion: To attract players and sponsors, we promote the league within the community. This includes marketing efforts, organizing opening day ceremonies, and maintaining our website and social media presence.
Conflict Resolution: We handle disputes and conflicts that may arise within the league, whether they involve parents, coaches, or players.
Compliance: We ensure compliance with the rules and regulations set forth by Little League International, the organization that governs Little League baseball worldwide. This includes adherence to age and eligibility requirements.
Long-Term Planning: We plan for the league's future by considering factors such as growth, facility improvements, and the development of player skills and may explore opportunities to expand the league's programs.
Fundraising: To support the league's operations and improvements, we organize and oversee fundraising activities, which can include sponsorships, concessions, and events.
Communication: Effective communication with parents, coaches, players, and the community is essential. We keep stakeholders informed about league activities, policies, and upcoming events.
