Concussion Training

Pennsylvania passed into law the Safety in Youth Sports Act on July 1, 2012 which requires coaches receive concussion training once each school year. The law pertains to athletic contests, competitions, or scrimmages related to our local schools but does not specifically address youth athletic activities outside of school. However, Little League encourages the sponsors of youth athletic activities not addressed by this act to follow the guidance set forth in the act.

The Octorara Area Little League Board of Directors have passed a policy endorsing the Safety in Youth Sports Act and encourages concussion education for everyone involved in our league, including parents and players. This policy mandates certification for all coaches on an annual basis.

To satisfy the Octorara Area Little League requirement, coaches will upload the completed document to their Sports Connect account.
