Divisions Summary

Octorara Area Little League includes divisions for all children (Co-Ed), ages 4-16. The number of spring divisions and teams fluctuate year to year depending on the number of players who have registered and their collectively ability. For most, you will register for the division based on your player's league age. Players are evaluated annually which may result in some players moving between divisions, both up and down. Once the evaluations are completed, the league uses the information to determine the final number of teams that can be fielded at each level. Note that a change in division may result in a partial refund or additional registration fees.

Spring playing age is based on the child's age as of August 31st of the current season.

Division setup, subject to change:

  • T-Ball - Ages 4-5 (players hit off tee)
  • Minors A - Ages 5-6 (coach/machine pitch)
  • Minors AA - Ages 7-8 (combination of player/coach pitch)
  • Minors AAA - Ages 9-10 (player pitch only)
  • Majors - Ages 11-12 (player pitch only)
  • Intermediate (50/70) - Ages 11-13
  • Junior League (60/90) - Ages 12-14
  • Senior League (60/90) - Ages 13-16

First time 5-years-olds should sign up for t-ball and returning 5-year-olds should sign up for Minors A.

Each division will focus on sportsmanship, team camaraderie, and simply having fun with teammates. Regardless of the players' age and division, the fundamentals (hitting, catching, throwing, fielding a ground ball, and baserunning) are the same. Coaches will have different styles, but they are all working towards the same goal, ensuring the players learn good fundamentals while having fun. Little League provides some instructional documents for T-Ball (Little League Tee Ball Curriculum) and Minors A (Coach Pitch) that coaches at that age should be referencing.
